Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2025
This policy explains how Vega AI handles your information. I built Vega AI to help you track job applications and organize your job search, and I want to be clear about what data gets collected and how it's used.
Two Ways to Use Vega AI
Cloud Mode: Use our hosted service at vega.benidevo.com for instant access with Google sign-in
Local Mode: Run everything on your own computer for complete privacy. Your data never leaves your machine
Information that gets collected
When you use the browser extension
The extension only collects job information when you click the capture button on a LinkedIn job page. It grabs:
- Job title and company name
- Job description and requirements
- Location and job type (full-time, part-time, etc.)
- The original job posting URL
- Any notes you add before saving
The extension also stores your login information locally in your browser so you don't have to sign in repeatedly.
When you use the web application
Your job information gets stored (either through the extension or by adding jobs manually), along with:
- Your account details (username, email if you use Google sign-in)
- Your profile information (skills, experience, education)
- Application tracking data (which jobs you've applied to, interview dates, etc.)
- Notes and status updates you add to jobs
Technical stuff
When you use AI features (job matching, cover letters), we send job descriptions and your profile to Google's Gemini AI for processing. This only happens when you explicitly use these features.
How we use your information
- Job tracking: Store and organize your job applications
- AI matching: Calculate how well jobs match your profile (10 free analyses/month)
- Document generation: Create tailored cover letters and resumes
- Authentication: Keep you signed in across the extension and web app
What we DON'T do
- Sell your data to anyone
- Share your job data with recruiters or companies
- Track your browsing activity
- Show you ads
- Access your data without your explicit action
Your control
- Choose local mode: Keep all data on your own computer
- Delete anytime: Remove specific jobs or your entire account
- Control AI usage: Use AI features only when needed (or not at all)
Security
Data gets encrypted when transmitted between the extension and servers. Authentication tokens are stored securely in your browser. In local mode, you control all the security measures.
Data location
Cloud mode: Your data gets stored on Hetzner servers in Germany and may be processed in different locations for the AI features.
Local mode: Your data stays on your own computer. We never see it.
Open source
Both the browser extension and web application are open source under the AGPL-3.0 license. You can inspect the code, contribute improvements, or modify it for your own use. The source code is available on GitHub.
Third-party services
- Google OAuth: For sign-in (cloud mode only)
- Google Gemini AI: For job matching and document generation (when you use these features)
- Hetzner: Cloud infrastructure (Germany-based servers)
Age requirement
Vega AI is for job seekers and professionals. Users must be at least 16 years old.
Changes
This policy will be updated if needed and changes will be posted here. For major changes, I'll try to give you a heads up through the application.
Questions
If you have questions about privacy or how your data gets handled, email [email protected] or check out the code on GitHub .
Your rights
You can view and delete your data anytime. You can delete individual jobs or your entire account through the application settings.
